A real photographer story
I have to share with you a story that happened to me.
Last Sunday I drove to Rosh Hanikra to relax by the beach and to shot some nature photos. I drove via the shortcut from Betzet reserve to the coast and I know that just before the intersection there is the territory of a Kestrel male that I've seen there few times in the past.
I hooked my super telephoto lens on the camera body. This lens, when fully elongated is about 20 inches long.
I’ve spotted him again and this time he was there with his girlfriend sitting on the power line. This is very rare because they are solitary birds but at the mating season they can be seen together. So I’ve parked the car about 20 yards away, pulled the camera out the window and waited for few minutes waiting for the perfect intimate moment. When I was ready to click, I heard a siren and 2 cops stepped out of the police car and start questioning me. I asked why and their answer was that there was a report that someone is aiming a potable missile or a shotgun at something. Obviously, once they saw that I’m a photographer they just wrote down my details and driver license and closed the case. Before they left I asked them who reported and they pointed their fingers to the cost guard boat that was about 1/2 a mile away…
Well, it is good to know that the Navy is always guarding us but I have missed maybe the picture of my life…
Do you have an interesting story? I would love to hear.

That is a really good and thoroughly frustrating story! Amazing coincidence that you should happen upon the potential photograph of your lifetime at the same time that the coast guard notified the police. It sounds as if "Big Brother" is alive and kicking!!

Small price to pay for security in Israel, huh?! We have kestrels in Florida where I live, but I have yet to see them outside of the zoo. Better luck next time!
